The rains have begun - after 3 months!
I love Fall. The temperate seasons especially - Spring & Fall. I've been waiting for the rain to begin digging. The ground has been hard-as-a-rock for months. But it allowed time to get the front porch painted. Slowly she turned - step by step, inch by inch... I've learned that some things can't be rushed. Very frustrating in today's time. But there is something in planting and nurturing, knowing in probability, that it will come to fruition.

Back from Rarotonga

You would think that these photos look like paradise. But I tell you... Oregon is so much more a paradise than any tropical island!

The variety of plants alone overwhelm anything on the Cook Islands. Yes, it's very lush. But so is the Pacific Northwest.

Most yards in our neighborhood are not just grass. The arrangement of foliage and rocks display care and attention, often imagination. Our climate supports a wide range of botanical choices. There is always something to see, often something you've passed many times and never noticed. But one day the sun spotlights it, and you laugh at what someone has done, alone in their garden.
